25th anniversary of Ireland’s ratification of the UNCRC
25 years ago, Ireland ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. To mark this significant milestone the OCO wanted to kick-start a national conversation about childrens rights, raise awareness of the UNCRC and ask children and young people to express their views and responses to their rights in reality. Our 25th Anniversary programme invited a wide range of cross-sector partners and collaborators to join with us to engage children and young people to learn and explore rights in innovative and creative ways.
What is it?
In 2017, the Ombudsman for Children’s office marked the 25th anniversary of Ireland’s ratification of the UNCRC by inviting everyone to get involved and to celebrate ‘Children Now, Rights Now’.
Listening to young people
A consultation group of 21 young people from all backgrounds played a big role in informing our launch event on the 28th of September and other aspects of the programme.
